Once
best known for its lovely climate, sedate lifestyle and gracious hospitality,
Bangalore has been through a rapid metamorphosis as it leaped into the
21st century.
Today, Bangalore is the fifth largest city in India and one
of the fastest growing cities in the world. It is a centre of education,
scientific research
and technology. Bangalore’s strategic location, the increasing number
of industries and MNCs within its borders and its excellent infrastructure
and facilities make it the business capital of South India.
With a youthful,
upwardly mobile population, Bangalore wears the look of a city for the
young. Its roads are busy; its awesome variety of restaurants,
pubs, “coffee bars” and stores are full.
But modernisation has not changed the essential character of the city.
It still has the old-world warmth and hospitality for which it was known
and loved. And, while colonial bungalows may have made way for multi-storied
buildings,
it is still a city of parks and gardens, trees and flowers.
The city has
five golf courses; world-class luxury hotels (over 2000 rooms in all);
excellent hospitals and medical services and many places of tourist
interest in its vicinity.
